To the man waiting outside of Dante’s last night

Friday night
7:30pm
I saw you look around often
Probably a date I thought
First date I wondered
You glanced at your phone once, shoving it back into your pocket maybe twice but you kept waiting and looking
Looking down Hudson but mostly facing the restaurant as other parties of 2 shuffled in
I’m like you
I like to wait for people like that too
Off my phone
I like to be off my phone when the person arrives so I can greet them open arms
You were waiting for awhile though
I also grew concerned
My friend and I talked for almost 45 minutes at the cafe across the street and you stood there
Waiting
She told me about the Turkish men she met and how they treated her so well
I wonder if they’re coming
Maybe they’re running late
Perhaps they missed the train and it’s the weekend so they all run on weird scheduled
I wanted to tell you I see you
Like
I see you
Waiting, open energy
Patient, kind energy
They’re coming
I hope whoever they are that they appreciate you so much for waiting
